The diversity of her practice, including her prior service as a trusted, court-appointed Guardian ad litem in representing the interests of children, enables her to provide wide-ranging legal counsel to educational institutions. She works closely as co-chair of the Virginia Education Law Group℠ with Douglas Guynn in handling regulatory matters, special education law matters and in defending school boards and their senior management teams in claims involving alleged sexual misconduct and boundary violations by teachers or other employees in their relationship with students, building on Mr. Guynn’s work for various school boards and the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA Presentation: Protecting Against Sexual Misconduct).
Lindsay C. Brubaker works closely day-to-day, as needed, in service to education law clients, providing counsel on regulatory matters, student matters, employment matters, and in defending school boards and their senior management teams in claims involving alleged sexual misconduct and boundary violations by teachers or other employees in their relationship with students. Lindsay’s experience includes advising school boards and division-level and school-level leaders in navigating the complex issues and responsibilities that arise under Title IX, as enforced by the OCR. She recently led the successful ground-breaking litigation by a school board to vindicate its rights.
